Keepin’ It All Cool
Our RV air conditioner did not cool the large kitchen/dining room in our 27-foot motorhome sufficiently, especially when we were cooking. The vents could not be angled enough to cool us off in the living areas where we spend most of our time. This especially critical while cooking over a hot stove in the afternoon.
So, I cut an off-center opening (to align directly with the fan’s airflow path) in the housing of the air conditioner unit. Then, I installed a standard heating/cooling vent by screwing it to the sheet-metal bracket inside the housing. After I painted the entire unit, it looked as if it had been factory installed.
Because the vent is adjustable, we can now easily aim the cool air where it is really needed, or close it off and use the regular vents at each end of the unit.
