Expert Advice

  • The Texas Riviera - It’s been said, “In a small town there ain’t much to see, but what you hear makes up for it.” Not so with “Corpus,” as the locals call it. Sun, sky, sea and sand best sum up this beachfront city of slightly more than a quarter of a million people. Another old adage, “It’s a city with small-town feel,” is a lot closer to the truth.
  • Tip of Texas - This is Shangri-la, a subtropical paradise, where the average annual shirt-sleeve temperature is 76° F with an average rainfall of 25 inches - half that of Miami, Florida. It is rich agricultural land, on which the fertile alluvial soils foster a diverse variety of crops, including 56 types of fruits and vegetables and 99 percent of the aloe vera grown in the United States.
  • Blanket of Blue - When a couple from our RV club, who divide their time between southwestern Colorado and Fredericksburg, Texas, issued this rather casual invitation, they probably didn’t anticipate that 15 of us would caravan more than 800 miles ...
  • Rolling Countryside - The Texas Hill Country features rolling countryside and a strong European heritage with settlers from the United Kingdom, Germany and central Europe. Many of the state’s dude or guest ranches are located here, near Bandera and Kerrville. Austin, the state capital, has a delightful mix of youth, sophistication, culture, live music and eclectic dining and shopping options. The city is named the “live music capital of the world” and hosts two major international acclaimed music events each year.
  • Follow the birds, South Texas Tropics - With more than 650 species of birds to see and catalogue, Texas is arguably the birding capital of America. In fact, according to the American Birding Association, the Lone Star State is the nation’s most popular state for birdwatching.
  • City Pass to Houston/Galveston - Enabling visitors to tour Houston at a bargain price, several attractions are now available via the CityPass. Space Center Houston, NASA’s official visitors center, is a multi-sensory experience for adults and children: Living in Space (an insider’s look shuttle), Blast Off and the NASA Tram Tour with a glimpse of Mission Control
  • Neighbors - Dallas & Fort Worth - The Prairies and Lakes Region of Texas is dominated by the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and is likely to be one of the first areas tourists visits. Dallas was made famous by the TV soap Dallas and today is a vibrant sophisticated city with more restaurants and shops per capita than New York. It also has a varied and superb nightlife.
  • Canyon of the Eagles, Lodge and Nature Park - Nestled amid the Texas hill country’s lush foliage and bright wildflowers, Canyon of the Eagles Lodge and Nature Park offers motorhoming families an equally dazzling array of possibilities for ecotourism and outdoor recreation. Situated on the northeastern shore of Lake Buchanan, 60 miles northwest of Austin, the 940-acre resort includes a campground with 25 expansive sites, a 64- room lodge, conference center, natural amphitheater — even boat tours of the Colorado River Canyon.
