Last year 800,000 people celebrated Carnival in the “Big Easy.” In the days preceding Fat Tuesday the streets of New Orleans fill with parades, floats, marching bands, dance troupes and entertainers of every kind. Since their inception in 1857, local organizations known as krewes come together every year to put on one of the world’s largest parties.
